WHO AM I AS A THERAPIST?
I am not a passive therapist. My goal is to shift something inside of you that allows you to make lasting changes in your life. I work with intention and specific therapeutic modalities, removing blocks and allowing you to become your best self. You will experience a sense of freedom and lightness when these blocks are removed, and you will understand who you are at your core in a way that you haven't before.
Ultimately, my goal is for you to not need me.
As a therapist and coach I take a more personable stance, a less clinical and more genuinely curious approach to understanding each individual client. The foundation of my training is in Systems Theory, which simply means that as we work together, we will explore your family and personal relationships, behavioral patterns, and life choices to help create balance and healing. I have extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and individuals (EFIT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for addressing trauma and "stuckness" in individual adults.
Carrie is such a Godsend to us! She has been amazing at understanding our situation, communicating a new perspective in a way that's easy to understand, and providing us with the tools to resolve it.
Married couple, mid 30's
I work with couples in all stages of their relationship - from premarital counseling, to improving communication and connection in marriage, to couples in crisis. I have extensive training and experience using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approach to help couples uncover underlying emotions and more easily identify their needs. This intentional approach creates positive change in the couple's interactions and heals past wounds. The best part of Emotionally Focused Therapy is that it creates permanent change, healing the foundation of the relationship and eliminating the need for future therapy. For individual counseling I use an attachment-focused approach, integrating a combination of Mindfulness, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to address anxiety, fear, racing thoughts, and negative thought patterns that interfere with life in many ways. This treatment approach gives you a plethora of tools to use at home between sessions to reduce anxiety and stress and calm the nervous system. With practice, you will become more in control of your thoughts, which directly affect your mood, energy levels, health and overall outlook in life. This approach is very empowering because it allows you to create an awareness of your thought patterns and puts you in control of how you feel physically and mentally, rather than allowing your circumstances to determine your happiness or relying on long-term therapy to relieve stress.
Carrie helped me move past lifelong trauma through the use of EMDR and significant mindset shifting. I can honestly say that my work with her changed my life immensely, and healed wounds I thought would affect my life forever. I am eternally grateful for Carrie and for the work she has guided me through.
Female client, early 30's
To address trauma, I am trained in the use of EMDR (Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and EFIT (Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy), two integrative psychotherapy modalities that have been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma - including recent trauma, childhood trauma, and relational trauma, as well as useful in treating other areas, such as depression, anxiety, and feelings of being stuck. While EMDR and EFIT are commonly used to address big traumas, they are also extremely effective for people who simply feel stuck, lost, sad, or confused about where they are in life. I have found that EMDR and EFIT are the fastest ways to make sense of the blocks and create long lasting change in my clients. For more information on EMDR, visit www.emdr.com.
I offer counseling services for adult individuals and couples on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, and Wednesday. My rate is $185 per clinical hour. I accept all major credit cards. Because of my unique location, a majority of my counseling and life coaching sessions are conducted over an online video platform. Studies have shown telehealth to be just as effective as traditional in-person therapy, and it's often much more convenient and accessible than in-person sessions.
If you're interested in working with me, I'm happy to schedule a free 15 minute session to discuss your goals, answer any questions, and determine if it is a good fit. Please contact me to set up a meeting, I look forward to connecting with you! If I'm not the right fit, I can refer you to someone who is.
